“Since surviving cancer, I have become fascinated by the vitality, variety, and ingenuity of living things. It is in the smallest details that I find the most interesting shapes, textures and colours. My work is inspired by my belief that God is the creative mastermind behind such beauty.
“Acrylics, watercolours, pen-and-ink, and oil pastel are the main vehicles for expressing the landscapes that inspire me. The movement of lines and quality of textures found in the rocks, plants, earth and sky drive my passion to paint.
“My love of colour and light is sparked by vivid memories of Arizona. I awoke during a train ride to witness a sunset of oranges and reds while the hills were deep purples and blues. I was in awe. My mother’s garden was another source of wonder. I continue to be intrigued by the delicate intricacy of the varied petals and leaves.”
