The Stories Behind Leah's Newest Work . . . Read More
Leah Dockrill is celebrating the development of a 30-year art practice that includes painting, collage and digital art. She says that she feels quite blessed , if at the end of the day, she has “succeeded in producing an image, whether in paper or in paint, that elicits a positive reaction” in a viewer.
“There are many benefits to working with different art forms. I am able to move comfortably from the intricacies and planned structures of collage to free-form painted abstracts or large acrylic landscapes. I frequently use my skills in digital art to create designs which then emerge in my own printed art papers. From time to time these printed papers make their way (back) into my collages, as well as my painted abstracts. These interactions result in a very satisfying synergy for the artist.”
Leah’s work, both collages and paintings, have been exhibited in Canada and the U.S. She has won various awards, and several art and literature reviews have published her images in recent months.
Leah holds degrees in law, education and library science. She has been an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists since 2000, and lives in Toronto with her husband and a pair of Siberian Neva Masquerade cats. (From the Artist)
