Tom and Frank Goldspink of TAG Art Gallery would like to salute Walker Industries and the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre for presenting the Walker Industries Art Competition in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Pumphouse Gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake ON. This was a juried event, with $3,000 in total cash prizes. The Jury of six established Ontario artists/art educators selected 25 finalists (from more than 200 entries) to participate in a month-long exhibition at the Pumphouse in Niagara-on-the-Lake in July, 2019. From the finalists, the jury picked two winners -- St. Catharines artist, Beverley Barber (First Prize); and Lorena Ziraldo of Ottawa (Second Prize).  The third prize, a 'People's Choice' award, was won by Julie Ponesse of Niagara-on-the-Lake and London, based on the votes of Pumphouse visitors during July. The three prizes were presented on Sunday, Aug. 4th, during the 25th Anniversary Celebration Party. This was the wrap-up to the 14th annual Art at the Pumphouse Show and Sale (Aug. 3rd and 4th, 2019).  Congratulations from TAG Art Gallery to Walker Industries and the Pumphouse for this wonderful initiative. The competition was open to emerging and established artists anywhere in Canada.
