The Stories Behind The Art – Christina Vogiatzus

Harbourfront

“Growing up just outside the city of Toronto, I have often visited its vast harbour filled with hundreds of boats as far as the eye can see. In this painting, I was drawn to the trio of primary colours – blue, yellow, and red – vivifying the landscape and reflecting abstractly in the turbulent waters of Lake Ontario on a dramatic, cloud-filled day.”  (To complete your purchase of ‘Harbourfront’, click here.)

Entrée

“Located in the exterior courtyard that flanks Paris’ beloved Notre Dame Cathedral, I found this quiet threshold in the shade of an old tree. I was instantly charmed by the door’s crisp cerulean colour and strong geometric detailing, which beautifully distinguishes it against the soft and creamy limestone architecture that surrounds it. I chose to express this scene in my beloved gouache paints – the medium that most prudently allows me to capture exquisite, fine details and a gentle sense of time.”  (To complete your purchase of ‘Entree’click here.)

Les Rues

“A sunset boat ride along the Seine inspired this gouache painting. Floating along the river, the city of Paris becomes even more dynamic, aromatic, and picturesque. The cream-coloured buildings rise proudly above the streets, elegantly decorated with wrought iron balconies and classical stone ornamentation, peaking out behind bursts of foliage and spindly green trees.”  (To complete your purchase of ‘Les Rues’click here.)
